Teaching Strategies
Client: Teaching Strategies, Inc. (TSI)
Project: Corporate Website with E-Commerce and Event Registration Capabilities
Challenges:
- The Teaching Strategies website contained many pages of content, each updated by hand.
- The website had an online bookshop with basic shopping cart functionality, but transactions were not processed in real-time and order details were communicated and managed solely through email, making it difficult to fulfill and track orders.
- Client required a conference registration system with real-time order processing, space limitations, and wait list functionality.
Solutions:
- Modern Signal developed a robust and reliable website for Teaching Strategies, integrating accounting, fulfillment, conference registration, and many other core aspects of the company's operations.
- The site includes a content management system, enabling the client to manage all content, including standard web pages, articles, products, conferences, FAQs, and homepage callouts.
- The CMS tool enables Teaching Strategies to set up relationships between pages and other related content items for effective cross-marketing, including product up-sells.
- The system successfully integrated the online and offline processes of conference management, including registration, payment, tracking, and wait lists.
- The online bookshop and event registration system accepts payments by check, purchase order, or credit card; credit card transactions are processed in real-time.
- All order information is stored in the web database, enabling effective searches and dynamic report generation.
- The bookshop is integrated with third-party fulfillment houses. Orders are processed and shipped automatically, without manual intervention. The website, in turn, receives information from the fulfillment houses and makes this information available online to users so they can track their orders.
- Modern Signal developed a promotions engine to tie in with the bookshop so that sales, promotional discounts, and coupons can be accepted and processed during checkout.
- The online bookshop and event registration system exchanges information in a timed and automated process with TSI's accounting system, thereby closing the communications loop so no financial or transactional information has to be re-keyed or re-entered.
- Within the first year of launch, the website processed more than 2,300 orders, totaling over a million dollar in sales, with the average order total increasing from $23.78 to $75.32. Average cart sales have increased exponentially over the years and now averages $132.09 per customer-initiated online order.
