Center for wine origins

Challenge:

  • Create a website that will become an educational resource for the importance of location when it comes to wine.
  • The website is also to represent and promote leading wine regions such as Port and Champagne.
  • The site is to appeal to a high end international wine consumer who wishes to learn more about where their wine comes from.
  • The site design is to tie into print material produced for campaigns prior to commissioning a web site to be built.
  • The site should be up to date with new content and news to keep the site visitor engaged and informed.

Solution:

  • Created an attractive, robust and interactive web site that appeals to high-end international wine consumers and advocates.
  • Designed the site to reflect the grandeur of the leading wine regions through vibrant landscape images including a flash introduction that describes the importance of location.
  • Implemented a robust content management system to allow Center for Wine Origin (CFWO) staff to update and add content, including text, graphics, and file downloads.
  • Created a news ticker on the home page to draw attention to any important news. The news ticker is editable through a back end admin tool that also allows staff to hyperlink the news to inner pages within the site or outside sites.
  • Created editable ‘Callouts’ on the home page that draw the user’s attention to the most important areas of the site.
  • Developed an E-Newsletter sign up form accessible through the home page that allows the user to subscribe to receive e-newsletters. Within one week of launch, the CFWO received 120 e-newsletter subscribers.
  • Developed an “Ask the Wine Guru” form that allows users to submit questions to the CFWO  and a back-end admin tool that helps CFWO to manage the submitted questions.  CFWO posts their responses via the content management system.
